A painting by me, titled 'Duality of Life In Los Santos'

Recently on Twinsta, an art competition was posted on the platform, run by Emily Clarke, with the theme being set as 'Life in Los Santos'. My first thought was to run to the main hubs of where people gather. The DMV, the fast food restaurants, the spots people go for entertainment and fun? Los Santos is vibrant and full of possibilities for a lot of people, so it's natural to want to use that as the subject.

Heading towards the Vanilla Unicorn, walking under the underpass nearby, I was met by a desolate scene that made me pause and rethink.

Yes, Los Santos is rebuilding and attracting new life and dreams into the city, but what about the people that lived through the fallout, were not lucky enough to be able to pick up the pieces of their life? What about the people troubled with bad luck and circumstance who are wrongly labeled as 'lazy' and equated to vermin by those with privilege?

We shouldn't dismiss or hide these parts of this State of possibilities, and most certainly we should never sweep these people under the rug that could so easily be pulled from under us all.
